Hosting an Event to Promote Gender Equality Awareness Together with Students

“HeForShe Engaging Youth to Achieve a Society Where Everyone Shines”

Shiseido Company, Limited (“Shiseido”) takes various global actions to actively support women’s advancement. On Saturday, October 14, 2017, Shiseido will hold an event co-hosted by UN Women*1, “HeForShe*2 Engaging Youth to Achieve a Society Where Everyone Shines.” Through this event, we aim to promote gender equality together with the young generation, our future leaders, and realize a society where each and every individual can make their own life choices and fulfil their potential.
*1 The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women
*2 A solidarity movement for gender equality spread by the UN Women globally since 2014 and grounded in the idea that all people, including men, need to stand together for a gender-equal society

Event Outline

This event encourages the participants, high school and university students, to think of gender issues as everyone’s issues and offer their original solutions. Shiseido and UN Women concluded a partnership in April 2017 and since then have been holding awareness-raising workshops on gender equality targeting students. This time, the participants will propose the action plans discussed at these workshops to representatives across different sectors*3.
*3 Government agencies, NGOs, international organizations, corporations, etc.
