We staff members of the Environmental Planning Department picked up the camellia fruits with local residents in the Goishi Camellia Garden in Ofunato, Iwate Prefecture. Ofunato is referred to as the ”village of the Camellias” from a long time ago, and there are camellia trees everywhere in the region. The camellia fruits we collected this time will be provided to ”Seishoukan Seseragi”, a social welfare corporation which has the only oil mill facility in the Kesen district to produce camellia oils. After the activity, we cooked the miso soup with root vegetables using camellia oil together and had luncheon with local residents for mingling.
